We provide information regarding "Plan Libro Argentino" and the open call for the Programa SUR 2024, which are aimed to facilitate and support the translation and export of Argentine books abroad.
1) PROGRAMA SUR
PROGRAMA SUR is a translation support programme to promote and strengthen the publishing of Argentine literature works in foreign languages. Since it was created the Programme has awarded more than 17000 works translated into 53 languages.
There is currently an open call to present applications until August 1st, 2024, and this year, the focus will be on works pertaining to social Sciences and humanities, such as essays, philosophy, sociology and poetry. The selected works will be published before November 30th, 2025.

2) PLAN LIBRO ARGENTINO
Plan Libro Argentino aims to internationalize Argentine literature works by facilitating the sale of rights and the export of physical books. The tools offered by PLAN LIBRO ARGENTINO are:
- a) "Argentina Key Titles": an annual catalogue of new Argentine publications, which is presented at international book fairs with the aim of selling publishing rights.
It consists of 28 titles of various genres selected each year by a jury, including an extract of each work translated into English.
- b) "Libros de películas": a catalogue that comprises 50 Argentine titles and is aimed at the sale of rights over literary works for their subsequent adaptation for audiovisual media, such as films, TV shows, or other formats.
- c) "Bibliodiversa Argentina": a selection of physical books with the objective to promote Argentina's bibliodiversity and its export potential, by displaying the books at International Book Fairs.
