Please read the following general information regarding the processing of visas at the Consulate General of Argentina in Sydney.
1. Exemption from visa requirement according to traveler's nationality.
The National Directorate of Migration maintains a list of nationalities and passport types in relation to visa requirements for travel to Argentina. For more information, please visit the website on visas of the National Directorate of Migration - Visas.
2. Visa procedures
Australian citizens do not require a visa to enter Argentina as tourists for a stay of up to three months.
The Consulate General grants visas to foreign citizens who need them for the activities they are going to carry out in Argentina.
To know the visa requirements and to request an appointment for the mandatory visa interview, the applicant must send an email to the Visa Section of this Consulate General (visas_csidn@mrecic.gob.ar), specifying:
- Full name and contact details (telephone and email).
- Nationality.
- If you will be using a passport from your country of origin.
- Activity to be carried out in Argentina (tourism, work, study, etc.).
- Tentative date of travel to Argentina and length of stay in Argentina.
The Consulate General conducts visa interviews by appointment only, on business days during regular business hours.
Please keep in mind the following recommendations:
Begin the visa process 3 months prior to the date of arrival in Argentina.
Submit your completed visa application at least 45 days in advance of your planned trip.
Do not make irrevocable travel plans until the visa has been granted. It is advisable not to purchase tickets until the visa has been approved (the requirement involves submitting a flight reservation).
The visa application process is private and personal. Applications on behalf of others are not accepted. No one is informed about other people's applications.
There is no minimum remaining validity period of the passport required to enter Argentina, only that it is valid. However, some flights to Argentina have stopovers in third countries, and airlines may require passports to have a minimum remaining validity period in accordance with the requirements of such countries. Therefore, and in order to avoid inconveniences, it is suggested to consult the airline about the minimum remaining validity period of the passport required to travel.
When you pay a visa processing fee, you are not guaranteed that the visa will be granted. The Consulate General evaluates each application and, if the visa is denied, the fee paid is not refunded to the applicant.
