Working Holiday in Argentina!

Visa General Information

The “Work and Holiday visa” program encourages cultural exchange and closer ties between Argentina and Australia by allowing young people to have extended holiday supplemented by short-term employment.
Applications must be done in the Consulate General of Argentina in Sydney, Australia, and in some other offices around the world.

A “Work and Holiday visa” allows Australians to:
1) Take extended holidays in Argentina for up to a year.
2) Leave and re-enter Argentina a number of times while the visa is valid.
3) Work in Argentina for up to 6 months with each employer.
4) Study for up to 4 months.

A)Visa Requirements

Applicants wishing to participate in the “Work and Holiday visa” program must fulfill the following requirements:
1) The applicant must be a citizen of Australia at the time of application
2) The primary intention is a holiday in Argentina up to twelve (12) calendar months; with work being incidental rather than the primary reason for the visit.
3) To be aged between 18-30 years, both inclusive, at the time of the visa application. 
4) To have completed tertiary qualifications or at least 2 years of undergraduate university studies.
5) Have a level of Spanish evaluated at least as functional. The Spanish level evaluation will be done during the personal interview.
6) Not to be accompanied by dependent children
7) Have not previously participated in the program “Work and Holiday visa” or “Working Holiday Visa” for Argentina

B)Documents Checklist

The applicants will need to present the following documents:

1) Valid Australian Passport - (at least 12 months validity) with 2 blank pages.
2) 3 x passport photos. Photographs must not be more than 6 months old. Photocopied photographs are not accepted.
3) Copy of ticket from airline or travel agency (ticket details) to Argentina and copy of the onward airline ticket from Argentina. Hotel address in Argentina booked in your name.
4) Proof of economic solvency: original current bank statement with evidence of enough funds for your stay in Argentina. You must provide evidence that you hold at least USD50 per day. Note: If you have a bank account that does operate exclusively online and you receive your bank statements electronically you will need to provide an electronic statement printed by the applicant with the official stamp of the bank in question. This official stamp should appear on the statements. Please, request to the bank to write down a letter stating your current balance with the stamp of the bank validating the document.

5) International credit card. Credit card statement showing credit card limit. Note: If you have a bank account that operates exclusively online and you receive your bank statements electronically you will need to provide an electronic statement printed by the applicant with the official stamp of the bank in question. This official stamp should appear on the statements. Please, request to the bank to write down a letter stating your current credit limit with the stamp of the bank validating the document.

6) Provide proof of education requirements (item nºA)-4) legalized by DFAT with the Apostille Stamp and translated into Spanish. Important: you will need to put an Apostille per document. A copy of final Certificate of Education should be certified by the educational institute´s person/officer whose signature is recognized by DFAT. Legalized by DFAT with the Apostille Stamp and translate into Spanish.
7) Meet character requirements form: by signing the form at our office during the interview. Attached.
8) Personal interview 

9) Visa application form, Declaration/Affidavit form and Character form signed by the applicant in the Consulate General of Argentina in Sydney.

10) There is visa application fee in Australian dollars (AUD) and may be subject to adjustment at any time. Cash or Money Order is only accepted. Personal or company checks will not be accepted. Payee: Consulate General of Argentina.

C)Entry, Stay and Working Conditions

1. You are aware that you cannot work more than six (6) months with each employer.
2. You are aware that you not be permitted to engage any studies or training for more than four (4) months.
3. You may not remain in the Argentine Republic for more than the twelve (12) month period authorized by your visa. If you wish to extend the period of your stay in Argentina, you will have to change your visa status since the “Work & Holiday visa” is not renewable.

D)Processing Visa Applications

1. Please contact the Consulate General of Argentina in Sydney to arrange an appointment for an interview by email: csidn@mrecic.gov.ar
2. Interview: in order to lodge your application, sign forms and payments.
3. Your application will be assessed. Generally visas are processed within 10 working days of interview
4. If you prefer your passport be returned by mail, you must provide a prepaid self-addressed return envelope.
5. The applicant must apply for visa no more than 3 months prior to entering Argentina.

Note: processing of your application will be delayed or returned to you if you do not provide all the required information and documents at the time of the interview.

E)Information to Help Prepare Your Application

Forms: must be completed. Please use a pen and capital letter to complete the form. Do not sign the forms. The original form must be signed in front of consular officer.

Translations: all documents in languages other than Spanish must be translated into Spanish by official translator. Only translator who is professionally qualified is acceptable.
