A- Requirements for Citizenship for children under 18 years.
1- Original Argentine birth certificate - or original and photocopy with original stamps legalization of the National Registry of Persons of Argentina - for the Argentine citizen parent that will exercise the “nationality by option” on behalf of the child. It suffices with one parent being a native citizen of Argentina. This must be demonstrated by showing the birth certificate originally issued by the Argentine Civil Registry.
2- Original ID document (D.N.I, L.C or L.E.) of the Argentine citizen parent that will exercise the “nationality by option” on behalf of the child.
3- Foreign passport (for non-Argentine citizen parent) or ID document (for Argentine citizen parent) of the parent who does not exercise the option but will be giving consent.
4- Original Australian birth certificate of the child, bearing the “Apostille of The Hague” stamp (“Apostille Stamp”) issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia.
5- Residence in the jurisdiction of Australia (proof of address, i.e. a bill, driver licence, etc)
6- Other documents (if applicable). In case of change of name/s of any parent an original Change of Name Certificate bearing the “Apostille of The Hague” stamp by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia will be required.
B- Requirements for Citizenship for persons 18 years and over.
1- Original Argentine birth certificate - or original and photocopy with original stamps legalization of the National Registry of Persons of Argentina - from the parent of the adult requesting the argentine “nationality by option”. It suffices with one parent being a native citizen of Argentina. This must be demonstrated by showing the birth certificate originally issued by the Argentine Civil Registry.
2- Copy of the ID document (D.N.I, L.C or L.E.) from the Argentine citizen parent of the adult requesting the Argentine “nationality by option”.
3- Copy of the foreign passport (for non-Argentine citizen parent) from the non-Argentine citizen parent of the adult requesting the Argentine “nationality by option”.
4- Original Australian birth certificate of the adult requesting the Argentine “nationality by option”, bearing the “Apostille of The Hague” stamp (“Apostille Stamp”) issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia.
5- Proof of ID / Foreign valid passport of the adult requesting Argentine “nationality by option”.
