On Friday, April 11th, the "Argentine Film Series 2025" kicked off with the screening of the Argentine film "La Extorsión" by director Martino Zaidelis.

Consul General Julieta Tabares, along with Coral Martinez Iscar, Director of the Instituto Cervantes Sídney, welcomed the audience of the fully booked showing. Then, the floor was given to Argentine director Augusto García, who led a brief discussion with the audience about Latin American cinema in general and Argentine cinema in particular before the film premiere.

The event was attended by members of the Argentine, Latin American, and Australian communities interested in the Argentine film industry and the Spanish language, as well as representatives from the Consulates General of Chile, Colombia, and Peru.

The audience also had the opportunity to taste Malbec wines from the province of Mendoza, courtesy of Bodega Argento of the Avinea Group, whom we thank for their collaboration.

We also express our sincere gratitude to the Argentine Embassy in Australia, Meikincine, and 100 Bares, who made the film screening possible.

The series will continue on May 2nd with a screening of "La Odisea de los Giles".
