WORK AND HOLIDAY VISA PROGRAMME

ACUERDO DE VACACIONES Y TRABAJO

(ARGENTINA-AUSTRALIA)

 

Visa General Information

The “Work and Holiday visa” program encourages cultural exchange and closer ties between Argentina and Australia by allowing young people to have an extended holiday supplemented by short-term employment. Currently, there is an annual limit of five hundred (1500) visas.

Applications must be done ONLY in the Consulate General of Argentina in Sydney, Australia.

The “Work and Holiday Visa” allows Australians to:

1) Take extended holidays in Argentina for up to a year.

2) Leave and re-enter Argentina a number of times while the visa is valid.

3) Work in Argentina for up to 6 months with each employer.

4) Study for up to 4 months.

 

A) Visa Requirements

Applicants wishing to participate in the “Work and Holiday visa” program must fulfil the following requirements:

1) The applicant must be a citizen of Australia at the time of application

2) The primary intention is a holiday in Argentina up to twelve (12) calendar months; with work being incidental rather than the primary reason for the visit.

3) To be aged between 18-30 years, both inclusive, at the time of the visa application. 

4) To have completed their secondary school program at Year 12 and have a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education.

5) Not to be accompanied by dependent children

6) Have not previously participated in the program “Work and Holiday visa” or “Working Holiday Visa” for Argentina

7) Have no criminal records.

8) Have sufficient funds for their maintenance during the initial period of their stay.

9) Hold medical and accident insurance including hospitalization and repatriation for the 12 months of authorized stay.

Applicants are reminded that, upon obtaining a Work and Holiday Visa, they will be authorized to stay in Argentina for a non-renewable period of up to twelve (12) months. They may enter and leave Argentina and work, but must not be employed by any one employer for more than 6 (six) months as the main purpose of the Programme is to promote tourism and leisure activities. They may also study for up to 4 (four) months during their stay.

 

B)Documents Checklist

The applicants will need to present the following documents:

  1. Valid Australian Passport - (at least 12 months validity) with 2 blank pages.
  2. Completed visa application form.
  3. Three (3) passport photos (4x4cm). Photographs must not be more than 6 months old. Photocopied photographs are not accepted.
  4. A reservation for a return ticket to their home country or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket.
  5. Proof of economic solvency: original current bank statement with evidence of enough funds for your stay in Argentina. You must provide evidence that you hold at least USD2.500. Note: If you have a bank account that does operate exclusively online and you receive your bank statements electronically you will need to provide an electronic statement printed by the applicant with the official stamp of the bank in question. This official stamp should appear on the statements. Please, request to the bank to write down a letter stating your current balance with the stamp of the bank validating the document.
  6. Medical and accident insurance for a minimum of USD 30,000, including repatriation of human remains and sanitary repatriation for the 12 months of authorized stay.
  7. International credit card, Australian banks only. Credit card statement showing credit card limit. Note: If you have a bank account that does operate exclusively online and you receive your bank statements electronically you will need to provide an electronic statement printed by the applicant with the official stamp of the bank in question. This official stamp should appear on the statements. Please, request to the bank to write down a letter stating your current credit limit with the stamp of the bank validating the document.
  8. A criminal record certificate issued by the Australian authorities AFP stating that the applicant has no criminal records for the last (3) three years.
  9. An affidavit stating that the applicant has no criminal records in other countries
  10. Provide proof of Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (item nº4) legalized by DFAT with the Apostille Stamp. The copy of the final Certificate of Education must be certified by a person or the officer of the educational institute, whose signature is recognized by DFAT. The signature of this person will be legalized by DFAT with the Apostille Stamp. Translation into Spanish.

C)Entry, Stay and Working Conditions

1. You are aware that you cannot work more than six (6) months with each employer.

2. You are aware that you not be permitted to engage any studies or training for more than four (4) months.

3. You may not remain in the Argentine Republic for more the twelve (12) months period authorized by your visa

 

D)Processing Visa Applications

 

  1. Contact the General Consulate of Argentina in Sydney to organize your documents and send them by e-mail for the first review to csidn@mrecic.gov.ar

2. Once your documents are approved, you must send them by mail to process your application, forms, passport and payment.

3. Your application will be assessed. Generally, are processed within 10 working days

4. If you prefer your passport be returned by mail, you must provide a prepaid self-addressed return envelope.

5. The applicant must apply for visa no more than 3 months prior to entering Argentina.

 

Note: processing of your application will be delayed or returned to you if you do not provide all the required information and documents.
